What is Knowledge Management?

Knowledge is considered  a  valuable  resource  for organizations and  individuals,  a  precondition  for  success and a  response  to  modern  challenges.

Although  the growing significance of intangible assets was recognized during the second half of the  20th century, it was not  until the  last two decades  of the  20th century  that  concepts of knowledge  management  and  organizational  learning became popular (Branislav, 2017).

Different authors define knowledge as the main asset of an organization and the key to its competitive advantage (Arteche , 2002).

Knowledge management is the process of creating, sharing, using and managing the knowledge and information of an organization. -Girard, 2015.

Knowledge management is the creation, transfer, and exchange of organizational knowledge to achieve a competitive advantage. -CIO Magazine

Knowledge Management (KM) refers to a multi-disciplined approach to achieving organizational objectives by making the best use of knowledge -Sunny Liu
